Admission

Admission includes two hours of parking in the Valentine museum lot or validated parking for the MCV Visitor Parking Deck at 1213 E Clay Street, one-day admission to Valentine exhibition galleries and a guided tour of the historic Wickham House.

Valentine Members, children under 18, students with ID, military personnel | Free
SNAP recipients with EBT card (up to 4 individuals)* | Free

Reservations are required for groups of 10 visitors or more. Reserved bus parking for groups is available directly in front of the museum on Clay Street.

For adult groups, admission to the museum is $10 per person and includes a guided tour of the Wickham House, a National Historic Landmark. Find more information for adult groups here, and see more information about student groups here.

Parking & Transportation

Museum admission includes two hours of parking in the Valentine’s lot at 407 North 10th Street.

Parking is available  in the Adult Outpatient Pavilion (AOP) Visitor Parking Deck at 1001 E. Leigh Street. The self-parking entrance is located on N. 11th Street. Please take the elevator to Ground Level (GL) to exit the building onto Leigh Street. You will need to bring the parking ticket with you to the front desk at the Valentine to validate your parking before leaving the Valentine at the conclusion of your visit. The Valentine is located two blocks east of the Downtown Transfer Station, which services numerous GRTC Bus Routes. If taking the GRTC Pulse, disembark at the Government Center station at Broad & 9th Street for easy access to the Valentine.

Wheelchair Accessibility:

The Valentine’s campus, including the historic Wickham House, all bathrooms and the Valentine garden are fully accessible by wheelchair. The museum’s 10th street entrance has a wheelchair accessible ramp. If you would benefit from wheelchair accessible parking or have any questions about visiting and accessibility, please call our front desk at (804) 649-0711 ext. 301 and we will be happy to assist you. The museum also has two standard wheelchairs available to borrow for visitor convenience.

Families:

We love families! Admission for children under 18 always is free. Strollers are welcome in all galleries and an unattended coat room is available to store other bulky items. Public restrooms are equipped with changing tables.

Visual Accommodations: 

Currently, we have an audio description highlights tour for one of our exhibitions, Sculpting History at the Valentine Studio: Art, Power, and the “Lost Cause” American Myth. Guests may either listen to it on their own smartphone or check out a listening device from our Visitor Services desk. Thanks to Virginia Voice for their partnership on this project.

Spaces to take a break: 

Should you need a break, the museum has a number of quiet spaces you can visit, including the Valentine Garden.

 

Hearing Accommodations: 

American Sign Language interpretation for events and tours is available with two weeks notice by emailing [email protected].

 

 

Spanish:

The Valentine offers Spanish exhibition materials for our core exhibition This Is Richmond, Virginia, located at the entrance to the galleries. Tours in Spanish can be arranged with two weeks notice by emailing [email protected]. 

Personal Care Attendants: 

Personal care attendants accompanying visitors with disabilities receive free admission to the museum (limit one attendant per visitor). 

Service Animals:

Service animals are welcome on the museum grounds and in the building.

We’ve got them ready for you when you stop by our lobby! Our Court End neighborhood is the perfect jumping off point for you to get to know Richmond.

Host a Meeting at the Valentine

Interested in hosting a meeting at the Valentine? Groups interested in reserving a space at the Valentine for a private meeting must fill out the request form here at least one month in advance. A team member will contact you with availability after you have submitted the form.
